Went to my weekly OB checkup today. I am now full-term so that baby can come out anytime now! She examined me and said the baby's head was definitely low down (um, I would think so because he actually feels like he's going to fall out sometimes!), I was 80% effaced (thinned out), and 2 cm dilated. And even better- I lost 2 lbs!! The last 2 times I went to the Dr. I had heavy shoes on and told the nurse to take off a pound for my big shoes. But she just kinda laughed and didn't do it- so I really think I weigh the same as last time (minus the heavy shoes).
All of this is exciting to me because it means WE"RE GOING TO HAVE BABY SOON!!! You would think I know this by now, but the reality of it has still not quite caught up with me.
And in other news...
It's been a long week (and it's not even over yet): Sophie had a fever all weekend and still had this nasty green snot coming out. I took her to the Dr and turns out she has ear infections in both ears and possibly a sinus infection. Poor baby! Got her on antibiotics so she is now starting to feel better and be more herself. She had to miss school Tuesday (her long day), so that kinda sucked for me, as I'm used to having a little time to get errands run or do things in peace!
Sophie did go to school today and when I picked her up her teacher told me she and another girl got in a real fight. She's only 1 1/2 years old! Had to be my kid that gets in a fight though. So the other girl tried taking Sophie's toy away and AHHH!! they started pulling and screaming at each other, both were yelling "MINE!"- can you just picture this?
Dwayne plays hockey tonight- last game for awhile since the winter season's over. And I think he'll be pretty busy here soon!
And tomorrow night I get to go out for a movie night with the girls! We are going to see Million Dollar Baby at Alamo Drafthouse. For those of you who have never experienced the Alamo Drafthouse, it's dinner & a movie all in one. You get to watch your movie, order your food and drinks, and they bring it right to you. Fabulous idea eh?
Have a great weekend and enjoy a beer for me if you can!

Baby shower
Some of our dear friends gave us a baby shower this Saturday. We had a nice time and received some lovely gifts for our baby boy to come: Lots of adorable clothes, a photo album, toys, pacifiers, a jumbo pack of diapers and wipes, and hockey sticks & pucks. (Oh I think we know who the hockey stuff is REALLY for!)
And my favorite part of course was all the delicious food!! Our host made a special Indian vegetarian dish for me that was superb- made with lentils and some other good stuff. One of my other favorites was the artichoke dip. I got the recipe and will post it later- super easy to make!
Unfortunately our little Sophie got sick on Friday and was not a very happy camper for the party. I picked her up from school on Thursday and she and one other child were the only ones left- all the other kids were sick at home or got sent home with fevers. Argh! I knew it was a matter of time before Sophie got it too. So Friday she had a fever and slept on me all day. The only nice thing about it was that I got to lay around on the couch almost the whole day Friday while she slept on me. Watched a lot of high quality TV shows- E! True Hollywood Stories, VH1 Most Embarrassing Moments of 2004, the Inside Story of Survivor (ok, I've never even watched Survivor but I really liked the "inside" story on it), and other good shows like that.
So she has been a big crab during the days and keeping us up at night... hopefully she'll get better soon!!
This momma is tired now and will have to tell more later...

Sophie and baby
Aren't I cute?
My mommy put this pretty dress on me and even put barrettes in my hair. But my baby hates to wear clothes!

And breathe...
This weekend Dwayne and I went to our "refresher" Lamaze class. Lots of breathing exercises. Can't say we'll use all of them, but the class was definitely good to go to. It helped put our minds in the right frame of mind of going through labor again. Dwayne was an awesome labor coach last time and I know he'll be just as good this time too!
We also got to watch the wonderful birthing video at our class. WOW- it's amazing to watch a baby come out that way! I can't believe we women actually stretch that big!!!
So I think we are all set and ready to go for the baby to come. I have been NESTING big time at our house! All the baby's clothes are washed and organized in the drawers: the crib and bassinet are made and ready; changing table is fully stocked and organized; house has been cleaned top to bottom (ok- I did have help with that one); and hospital bags are getting packed this week.
Now with 4 weeks left, what the heck do I have left to do?!?
Well my crazy little nesting preganant self will probably reorganize all those drawers and changing tables twenty times, as well as rearranging the nursery a few times also.
I am seriously hoping this baby comes sooner than 4 weeks! Not just because I'm uncomfortable and ready, but for everyone's sanity in the house as well.

Fire Station
What a fun morning! Sophie and I got to tour the fire station with our mom's club!
I told Sophie we were going to go see firemen and firetrucks today, so all morning she kept saying "fire truck!" When we got there the kids got to see a cute video about fire safety. Then one of the firemen showed us all the gear he put on before a fire. And then the best part was getting to see the fire trucks! Sophie even climbed inside briefly but got a little scared and wanted to come back out. She liked it when they turned on the lights on the truck.
After our tour we went to eat at Chik-Fil-A (one of mom's favorites since she's been pregnant). There were some different firemen eating lunch there also. Then they got a call and had to rush out. We got to see them leave in the firetruck with the lights and sirens on. Boy that was exciting for Sophie!
I think she's said fire truck about a hundred times today.

5 1/2 more weeks... (and counting)
We are getting excited with the baby coming soon! Although Mommy is still a little freaked out that we are going to have TWO kids now!
Today was my OBGYN check up and I was a little nervous to get on that scale. I have gained 25 lbs. so far, which (thank goodness) is right about normal. I just know I'm a lot bigger than I ever was carrying Sophie! The Dr. said she was pretty sure this one was going to be a bigger baby.
Um yeah, I feel like I'm carrying a 10-pounder inside there! And my back has been killing me! The dr. did give me a nice handout on back stretches to help ease back pain. I'm definitely going to give it a try.
